Workout News

Well...I am back to old faithful! This is the absolute best workout video I have ever done. I haven't done tons in my life, but this one is just so good! You get winded, sore, but it isn't difficult as far as technique goes. I am putting the other one on Amazon for sale if my mom doesn't want it, it isn't even worth keeping after I did this one again!

My progress is going GREAT! I know the first pounds come off the easiest, but I have already lost five pounds! Yay!

I am so ready for the beach! Life has been pretty nuts around here. I am super excited that my neighbor and wonderful friend is going to have a baby any day now! Little Aggie Rose come on!!!! Today is her due date...so we'll see! ha ha!

Three Weeks!

As you can see over to the right, there is a countdown to the beach with....twenty one days left!!!! I am SO not ready....I have really put on the pounds since Christmas...ugh! So, in true "me" fashion I am going to crash it! ha!

I saw this dvd at the library the other day but didn't check it out. Then, when I went on Wednesday it was checked out. So I looked it up online, read some reviews, and decided to just pick it up, because at $9 it is cheaper than many dvds I have ever picked up from the library! ha!

I started it this morning. HELP!!!!!! It was pretty tough, but then again, I haven't done ANYTHING for about 6 months or more. It has three sessions...I attempted two of them and plan on doing the last one later today..I gotta catch my breath! ha ha! The first session was titled "cardio intervals" which is a really good circuit type training. It has..you guessed it...intervals of cardio and weight training for 20 minutes. One big pat on the back for me is that my other workout video (which I LOVE but got bored with before) has 10 minute sessions and I usually did two of them at the most...so this is good! I may do one of the 10 minute sessions later today actually instead of the other one of these...

One thing I did NOT like was the 5 minute ab blast. That is the other session I did on this boot camp and I will not be doing it again. It is entirely too advanced. Not "hard" advanced, but like technique advanced...it has you doing these side raise plank things (picture laying on your side...balancing on your feet and elbow on your side, raising your arm AND leg if that makes sense) that require a ton of balance and athletic ability that I just don't have, and honestly don't think I will ever have...like gymnast type stuff. I know the difference between it just being hard on my abs and being just too difficult. I will stick with my other video for abs, which is what I will end up doing later most likely.

I also have some recordings from Fit TV on the dvr.... some good ole Gilead...among others...ha ha!

For the first 20 minute interval session though, this video was awesome. We'll see if I have a big change in three weeks!!! Go me!

Getting Fit....Again.

I have worked out five days this week. I must admit I am very proud of myself! I am mostly using the same video that I have used in the past and I found that I still greatly enjoy this one. I am only doing about 2-3 sessions out of the 5, but hey, it's a start! And I am not even feeling the need to puke at the end! ha!

I am also using Netflix Instant Play to do some other workouts. We really enjoy this feature of Netflix. We can use our Xbox 360 to stream the instant play choices directly to our tv. This has been so handy for playing cartoons and movies for the kids and I just thought the other day to see if they had any choices for instant play workout videos.

This is what the instant queue looks like on the Xbox...this is not our actual queue though..just a photo I found.

Anyway, it turns out they did have some choices for instant play workouts. They aren't the best ones ever (HA!) but they do give a little variety and it is included with our subscription! Katie and Noah also enjoy doing the workouts with me..it is quite amusing! They especially love Pilates (it is slow enough for them to keep up with!).

So..there ya go. I hope to continue doing so well with the working out. It really gives me a boost of energy for my day and everytime I get back to the routine I feel sad that it took me so long to get back on the bandwagon!

What about you? Do you subsribe to Netflix and use the instant play feature? Are you working out?

Workout '09

I have been a complete slacker about working out. I had huge intentions of training for the 5K then....life happened. I had a few issues with personal health, then winter came with early darkness and COLD. So, needless to say I totally gave up on my training. I did not continue anything at home either.
Well, I am motivated once again.
I decided I needed to get back in shape before I go and walk 5 miles a day or more on our vacation. I was feeling SO good before, when I was doing regular walking/running. When I coached soccer, that sort of kept me a little in shape for those months, running after 4 year olds for an hour twice a week!
Yesterday I started back on my video: (click photo for link)

I wrote about how great it was last year when I first got it.(read about that HERE) I am relieved to be back at it! The great thing about this video is, since it has 10 minute segments, you can start back in and not feel like a TOTAL failure. Nevermind that I got to where I could do all of the sessions in one workout without dying! ha ha. For now, I started back on the first 10 minutes (cardio) and have done that yesterday and today. The good news is: I did not ALMOST DIE like I did the VERY first time I did it!!!!!! YAY!!!! Tomorrow I will add in the next 10 minutes. It is such a great and forgiving workout video for people like me who will give it up for a few months, then pick it back up. 10 minutes isn't THAT long. I can do it!! And, I won't be in such bad shape while we traipse around the theme parks for 7 days!
